Multiple heat-related medical emergencies were reported Thursday afternoon during Central Bucks School District graduation ceremonies, prompting a large response from EMS and advanced life support units at all three district high schools.
Emergency dispatchers began receiving calls shortly after 1:25 p.m. as temperatures climbed to 89 degrees during commencement ceremonies that had been moved to 12:30 p.m. because of forecasted evening thunderstorms and extreme heat later in the day.
The first incident was reported at 1:27 p.m. at Central Bucks East High School, 2804 Holicong Road in Buckingham Township. Bucks County emergency dispatchers reported “two environmental arrests” and requested multiple EMS units, including from Central Bucks EMS, for several people suffering apparent heat-related medical issues.
