Meghan Macklin, a 48-year-old Philadelphia woman, was sentenced Wednesday, June 24, 2026, to decades in prison for killing 72-year-old Richard Scott MacFarland inside his Wrightstown Township home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

The sentence followed Macklin’s February guilty plea to third-degree murder and related charges in the October 2023 killing. A judge imposed a state prison sentence of 21½ to 50 years on Wednesday.

Common Pleas Judge Wallace H. Bateman Jr. called the facts horrific during sentencing. He said MacFarland “died a very violent death.”…
