PECO employees set to strike on the Fourth of July

PECO workers are preparing put down their tools and pick up the picket signs with a proposed strike beginning July 4, according to members of IBEW Local Union 614, which represents PECO workers.

Negotiations with PECO began at the start of the year, and members of the union have been working without a contract since April 1.

PECO provides electric and gas to the majority of townships in Bucks County, among other parts of the state, including Chester County, Delaware County, Montgomery County and parts of Philadelphia.

“They’ve [PECO] never accepted the fact that the union got in,” said Larry Anastasi, IBEW Local 614 president and business manager. “The people that are in charge right now are the people that fought the union, and they have elevated to the position they are in now…
