ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Thousands packed downtown Alpharetta Friday night, July 3, for the city’s first drone show, and so many turned out that latecomers found the Town Green full and were pushed instead to the sidelines along Commerce and Market streets for a view of the show.
The night opened with a DJ set at 7 p.m., followed by Atlanta-based cover band Party on the Moon, which played from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Alpharetta City Center, 2001 Commerce St. The seven-vocalist band performs a mix of current dance music, country, classic rock, disco, funk, swing, R&B and Motown, and has built a national reputation over more than 1,000 shows, with past performances for political figures, celebrities and multiple U.S. presidents. The band has also been featured in Vogue and Martha Stewart Living.
Sky Elements Drone Shows had planned to launch its aerial display from Brooke Street Park around 9:30 p.m., but the overflow crowd pushed the start back roughly 30 minutes. Organizers held off because spectators had spread into the area beneath the drones’ flight path, delaying liftoff until the space could be cleared…
