CLARKESVILLE, Ga. — Torrential rain soaked much of Northeast Georgia Friday, flooding roadways, forcing temporary road closures, contributing to traffic accidents and causing scattered power outages across the region.
A Flood Watch remained in effect through Friday evening for much of North Georgia as repeated rounds of heavy rain moved across the area. The National Weather Service warned that excessive rainfall could cause flooding along rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying areas, particularly in locations with poor drainage. Additional rainfall of 1 to 3 inches was possible through Friday night, with isolated locations expected to receive 5 inches or more.
