The next hotel planned along Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Suwanee will offer private rooms, premium bedding, climate-controlled recreation and in-suite television. Its guests, however, will arrive on four legs.
K9 Resorts, a national chain built around luxury dog boarding and day care, is preparing a location at 300 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. Gwinnett County issued a commercial redevelopment permit for the 1.43-acre property in January, and the company now lists Suwanee among its coming locations.
The project is more than another pet-care business entering northern Gwinnett. It is the latest evidence of a growing North Atlanta industry in which the old kennel has been recast as a resort—and leaving a dog behind for vacation can cost almost as much as adding another person to the trip.
