A Sandy Springs Thai restaurant flunked its latest health inspection with a 56, while an Alpharetta breakfast favorite pulled off a spotless 100. The sharp split landed in the same weekly restaurant report card, with one kitchen scrambling to clean up and the other collecting bragging rights.

According to Atlanta News First, Erawan Organic Thai received a 56 and a U for unsatisfactory compliance. Inspectors found food debris on knives, chicken, pork and calamari held at unsafe temperatures, and an employee handling raw chicken before touching vegetables without changing gloves or washing hands. The report also said an employee told the station there was no manager on site and the owner was out of the country.

Georgia’s grading system makes the result unusually stark: scores of 69 or below receive a U, while 80 to 89 earns a B and 90 to 100 earns an A, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. Erawan’s follow-up inspection came back at 87, a B, just hours after the station’s visit, turning a serious stumble into a quick but incomplete recovery.

Erawan’s Score Rebounded But The Posting Raised Questions

Erawan’s own website markets the business as Sandy Springs’ first organic Thai restaurant and says it has been serving customers for about a decade.
