Democratic Party event scheduled for Rosh Hashanah sparks conversation about Jewish voters

DULUTH, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — The timing of an upcoming Democratic Party event is drawing criticism from Jewish constituents and lawmakers.

The Bluetopia event, put on by the Gwinnett Democratic Party in Duluth, is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12. That’s right in the middle of the Rosh Hashanah weekend, a celebration of the Jewish New Year and one of the holiest days in the religion.

State Rep. Esther Panitch, a Sandy Springs Democrat and the legislature’s only Jewish member, said the timing of the event is discouraging and comes at a moment where some Jewish Democrats feel disconnected from the party’s stance on Israel…
