The city of Duluth plans a full day of activities on Saturday to celebrate its 150th anniversary, and the city will pay tribute to its origins as a rail stop with a free evening concert by Grand Funk Railroad.
Jessica Gross, the city’s event coordinator, said putting together the event, known as “The Big 150: Off the Rails!” has been a work in progress for quite some time.
“We started talking about this at the beginning of 2025, so we’re going on two years,” said Gross. “We booked the bands last October, and we’ve been discussing this for the past couple of years, with major planning for at least a year.”…
