Cherokee County issues burn ban amid severe drought conditions

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Cherokee County issued a burn ban on Thursday morning, prohibiting residents from setting anything outside on fire.

The announcement comes as Georgia is in a drought, contributing to wildfires raging in the southern portion of the state. The Georgia Forestry Commission issued a burn ban for all of south Georgia and most of middle Georgia on Wednesday.
