A suspect that was wanted in Gwinnett County for allegedly stealing a Dodge Charger Hellcat was apprehended in Forsyth County on April 24.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post Friday that a deputy had attempted to perform a traffic stop on the Hellcat on the evening of April 24. The vehicle allegedly matched the description of one reported stolen out of Gwinnett County. According to FCSO, the driver in the vehicle did not stop, and a pursuit began with the suspect weaving in and out of traffic.
The driver also reportedly turned the lights of the vehicle off during the chase. The deputy ultimately decided to temporarily end the search and pursuit, out of concern for the safety of other drivers.
FCSO said a little while after the pursuit stopped, deputies received information that the vehicle had crashed and the driver had abandoned it. A civilian then reported to deputies that they saw someone running up the street from the vehicle…
