Buford commissioners deny proposed car lot after nearby business raises concerns

BUFORD — A proposed used car lot and automotive repair shop along Gainesville Highway was denied by the Buford Board of Commissioners after a neighboring business owner raised concerns about its potential impact.

The request, submitted by Thomas Lin, sought a special use permit to allow a used car lot and automotive repair operation at 942 Gainesville Highway.

During the public hearing at the April 6 commission meeting, the owner of 5 Spot Cafe spoke in opposition, saying the proposed use would negatively affect her business and disrupt daily operations.

She told commissioners that the presence of a car lot could make it difficult for delivery trucks to access the cafe, which relies on frequent shipments of fresh food…
