Amarillo city manager announces changes after landfill wildfire, TCEQ violation

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo City Manager Grayson Path said he has taken several steps in response to a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality violation issued after a wildfire that started at the city landfill destroyed 52 homes and damaged 25 others.

Path announced the actions during Tuesday’s City Council meeting, saying he began the response after learning of the TCEQ violation May 21. The violation was for not properly covering trash to prevent fires weeks before landfill fire.
