City of Amarillo Office of Emergency Management Director Max Dunlap provided a report Monday morning during the Potter County Commissioners Court meeting. Dunlap began by making clear who he was representing.
Regarding the disaster declaration, Dunlap said he made his recommendation to Judge Nancy Tanner “before the fire started,” adding ”the declaration for local disaster was signed and sent to the State on 5/15 of ‘26. This was based on the impact of other fires in the area, the anticipation of more based on weather and the availability of county resources that were already helping other fires in the surrounding area.”…
