Old Route 66 Association of Texas awards five local businesses exterior beautification grants

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Old Route 66 Association of Texas announced its first class of recipients for its Texas Route 66 Small Business Outdoor Beautification Matching Grant Program, selecting five businesses in the Texas Panhandle to help receive exterior improvements.

According to the association, the businesses are all located along Historic Texas Route 66 and were awarded $500 matching grants to support exterior improvements, beautification projects, signage, restoration efforts, and visitor experience enhancements.

The 2026 grant recipients include:

  • Cactus Inn Motel in McLean
    • Outdoor gathering area
  • Devil’s Rope & Texas Route 66 Museum in McLean
    • Exterior south wall painting and mural project
  • MidPoint Cafe & Gift Shop in Adrian
    • New exterior wall signage
  • Moonshine Motorsports Museum in Shamrock
    • Outdoor signage and lighting
  • Old Tascosa Brewery in Amarillo
    • Facade sign restoration

As explained by the association on its website, the grant award is a reimbursement-based, dollar-for-dollar matching grant of up to $500 for exterior beautification projects.
