Quiet weather expected tonight, possible thunderstorms Sunday

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — From Meteorologist Brian James, tonight will be quiet, but the weather may turn active again on Sunday as another round of late afternoon and early evening thunderstorms becomes possible, mainly across the eastern Texas Panhandle.

While storm coverage will be limited, any storm that develops could produce damaging wind gusts of up to 60 mph. Otherwise, hot conditions will continue, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the upper 90s to the low 100s, and breezy winds may also lead to elevated fire weather concerns.

The pattern changes very little through the first half of next week. Hot weather will continue Monday, with highs remaining in the mid 90s to low 100s, while daily chances for afternoon and evening thunderstorms persist through at least Wednesday.
