Former Amarillo ISD teacher, coach sentenced to 18 years for ‘enticement of a minor’

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – A former Tascosa High School teacher and coach will spend 18-years in federal prison for enticement of a minor. 32-year-old Nicholas Jade Herrmann was sentenced on June 23.

Court documents said that at the time of his arrest, Herrmann was the assistant wrestling coach at Tascosa High School. Around January 2025, Herrmann and his victim began exchanging sexually explicit texts, and he coerced the victim to sneak out of her home to meet him.

At the sentencing, the victim’s mother claimed Herrmann groomed the victim and the parents to gain their trust.

“When parents send their children to school, they place their trust in the school`s staff not only to provide them with an education but also to keep them safe,” said U.S. Attorney Raybould. “This defendant clearly took advantage of the trust he was given, and his sentence should serve as a warning to others.”

Once released from prison, Herrmann will serve 25-years of supervised release, and will also have to register as a sex offender…
