Northwest Texas Healthcare System Behavioral Health Hospital names Rene Havel as Chief Executive Officer

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Northwest Texas Healthcare System has appointed Rene Havel, EdD, LPC-S, as Chief Executive Officer of its Behavioral Health hospital.

According to NWTHS officials, Havel has been a leader at NWTHS since 2016. She has driven clinical advancements while advancing through leadership roles, including Counselor, Clinical Supervisor, Director of Clinical Services and Case Management, and most recently, Interim CEO of Behavioral Health. During her tenure as Interim CEO, Havel successfully expanded access to services.

Prior to joining NWTHS, officials said Havel built extensive expertise in counseling, case management, and clinical supervision. She also proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where she forged the leadership, discipline, and resilience that continue to guide her dedication to patients, staff, and the Amarillo community. Havel is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and holds a Doctor of Education, reflecting the highest standard of professional competence in healthcare administration.
