Amanda E. Fitzgerald, a popular local artist and instructor in Amarillo and referred to as an “advocate, rebel, activist and all-around badass woman,” died unexpectedly recently in early July.
While friends, artists and organizations throughout the community mourn her loss, they are working to raise funds for her family during this difficult time through a GoFundMe and other donations.
Fitzgerald, also known as “Fera Lux,” created art from anything she felt the impulse to, according to posts from friends and fellow artists shared on social media. She also specialized in abstract art using different mediums to accomplish her works. One Facebook post said, “All of us at Goth Prom Amarillo are saddened by the devastating loss of a friend and local artist, art teacher, activist, force of nature, and one of the brightest lights in Amarillo, Amanda Fitzgerald, Fera Lux.”…
