AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center officials have confirmed a case of measles in the Amarillo area, marking the first reported case in Potter or Randall counties this year.
Dr. Rodney Young said the confirmed case was identified in a resident of Potter or Randall County and urged the public to take precautions against the highly contagious virus.

“We just got notified today that we’ve had a confirmed case of measles in our area,” Young said. “It’s not the first case we’ve heard about this year, but it is the first in our area, and measles is wildly contagious.”
