AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – A man accused of possessing fraudulent immigration documents submitted a guilty plea in Amarillo Federal Court on Thursday, after he allegedly admitted to purchasing them from a flea market.
According to court documents, Angel de Jesus Belmontes-Garcia pleaded guilty to one count of “Use or Possession of Fraudulent Immigration Documents,” which could lead to him facing a sentence including up to 10 years in prison, up to three years of probation, and a fine of up to $250,000.
Submitted court documents said as of June 2026, Belmontes-Garcia had allegedly been overstaying a visitor visa that expired in December 2016. He allegedly had a fake Legal Permanent Resident card with an ID number assigned to a different person, as well as a fake Social Security card he bought “approximately three years ago” for $150 in a Texas flea market…
