A new member of the Hoof Prints Quarter Horse statues was unveiled Thursday morning, July 16 at the Historic Amarillo Building as part of its 100th year celebration.
Named “Boone” in honor of T. Boone Pickens, the quarter horse statue has a classic black-and-white checkered design with gold, Art Deco style details. It carries the theme of classic revivalist art, as shown in the first skyscraper in Amarillo, which was made possible by Amarillo visionaries Ross D. Rogers and Ernest O. Thompson, both of whom went on to be mayors of Amarillo.
