AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Amarillo City Council is expected to hold a regular meeting Tuesday afternoon, in which officials will discuss possible changes to the city’s organizational structure, a budget update, and multiple incentive agreements, among other items.
According to the published agenda, the Amarillo City Council will meet for a closed executive session at 1 p.m., which will include consulting with an attorney on matters relating to “Landfill Fire Claims.” This item may follow the Landfill Fire in May at the City of Amarillo Landfill, which officials previously said destroyed or damaged at least 74 homes in Amarillo and Potter County. At least one audit and investigation was launched after the fire, and more than 50 people were reported to have sent Tort Claims Notice letters to the city in its aftermath.

The regular Amarillo City Council meeting is expected to begin at 3 p.m., with sign-up for public comment available online here, by calling the City Secretary’s office at 806-378-3014, or in person at least 15 minutes before the scheduled meeting start time.
Discussion items listed in the published agenda include a recap of the “Red, White, and Boom” event as well as an update for the fiscal year 2026-2027 budget.
