Sometimes nothing beats the heat like a little rain — and parts of the Lone Star State could see notable instances of both this week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Forecasters in the Texas Panhandle said in an update that Wednesday, August 12 will likely be the hottest day of the week, with record-high temperatures (up to 108-110 degrees in some spots) possible in Dalhart, Borger and Amarillo. Then, a surge of humid air, or “monsoonal moisture,” will move into the otherwise dry region, triggering the potential for scattered convection — meaning localized rain showers and thunderstorms — late Thursday afternoon into the early evening.
