CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — West Texas A&M University reported Wednesday that campus police were alerted to two incidents of unwanted conduct on campus and within an academic building.
According to the WTAMU Police Department, on Aug. 18, it received reports of harassment on campus, and a no-contact directive was issued. Officials said that on Sept. 2, a second report of similar unwanted conduct occurred both on campus and within an academic building.

WT Police explained that both incidents happened at different times in August 2026 and meet the Clery Act / VAWA definition of stalking. Under the Clery Act and the Violence Against Women Act, a course of conduct directed at a specific person that would cause a reasonable person to fear for their safety or suffer substantial emotional distress.
Officials released the following on how people can help:
- Bystanders play a critical role in the prevention of sexual and relationship violence. Make the choice to intervene, speak up, or do something about it.
- Believe someone who discloses sexual assault, abusive behavior, or experience with stalking.
- Watch out for friends and fellow students or employees who look like they could be in trouble or need help. Ask if they are ok.
