Amarillo sees strong early voting turnout, decline in mail-In ballot requests

Early voting has started strong across Potter and Randall counties, reflecting a statewide trend where more than 1.7 million Texans have already cast ballots in the first two days, according to the Texas Secretary of State. Local turnout appears poised to surpass previous years, particularly in in-person voting.

Randall County recorded 5,421 voters on the first day of early voting, a significant increase from the 4,584 who participated on the first day in 2020, and more than double the 2,441 who voted early on the same day in 2022. On the second day, another 5,309 people cast ballots, bringing the two-day total to 10,730. The Randall County Annex and Southwest Library have been the busiest polling locations, recording 1,772 and 1,442 votes, respectively.

Potter County saw a similar trend, with 2,963 voters casting ballots on the first day, up from 2,693 in 2020 and almost triple the 1,041 turnout in 2022. Day two added 2,524 more votes, bringing the total to 5,487. The Northwest Library and Santa Fe Building were the most popular polling sites, with each logging over 840 votes.
