When you made it to the upper levels, you were stoked for yourself and your teammates. What was even better was when you competed and won, and especially if it was the first time for your school in decades. Remember that feeling.
A Historic First in Five Decades
Well, hold onto that feeling because that is exactly what has happened to the Tascosa High theatre department. They have made it to the UIL State Theatre Competition and have a chance to win for the first time in 50 years.
The Graduation-to-Competition Sprint
Here’s the kicker: the theater program has 9 seniors on the team, and they graduate the night before the state competition. They will have to walk the stage early, hop on a bus, and leave immediately to make it to Austin and compete in this historic event.
How Amarillo Can Help Send Them to Austin
Here’s where the Amarillo community and Tascosa alumni need to jump in. They are raising extra funds for these students’ trip, hoping to bring home the championship. For these seniors, this will be the cherry on top of their high school careers.
On Tuesday, May 12, Bubba’s 33 is hosting a fundraiser for these students. So it’s time to make plans to have dinner at Bubba’s 33 to support these hardworking students and help them get to their competition. Stop by between 3 pm and 11 pm on Tuesday, May 12, and let your server or bartender know you are there to support the Tascosa High School Theatre.
