A suspected gang member was taken into custody after an hourslong standoff in Anaheim in which he emerged completely nude from an apartment building window Sunday, authorities confirmed to KTLA.
The incident began around 12:10 p.m. near the 200 block of North Gilbert Street when Anaheim police responded to reports of a man damaging multiple vehicles.
Witnesses told police they saw the suspect either shoot or throw an object at several parked cars, shattering windows across the neighborhood. At least 10 car windows were broken during the vandalism spree, investigators told photojournalists with OnScene.TV, a video news service.
As officers arrived, the suspect fled into a nearby apartment and barricaded himself inside, triggering a police response that ultimately involved Anaheim Police Department SWAT teams.

Video of the standoff obtained by KTLA showed heavily armed officers surrounding the apartment complex. At one point, officers could be seen throwing what appeared to be tear gas or pepper spray canisters into the apartment in an effort to force the the man out.
