Police Might Charge Child’s Mother Due to Reckless EV Dirt Bike Use. Good

A Newport Beach, California, mother may face charges associated with her child’s repeated EV dirtbike arrests. It’s about time parents face repercussions for their children’s actions.

If you’re a parent, you’re responsible for your child’s actions to a degree. Not so much when they crossover to adulthood, but until that time, they’re your responsibility. And what they do with things you allow them to have, i.e., an electric dirt bike, is part of that structure. So I shed no tears for the mother who’s currently facing legal threats herself after her son repeatedly broke the law and endangered those around him using an EV dirt bike.

According to the Newport Beach Police Department out of Newport Beach, California, “On May 9th, 2026 at 6:15pm, NBPD Motor Officers attempted to stop a subject on an illegal electric motorcycle in the area of MacArthur Blvd and Bison Ave. The male subject immediately fled from officers by riding at a high rate of speed into opposing traffic and across an intersection against a red light. Due to the extremely reckless riding behavior, officers did not pursue the subject.”

The incident, which NBPD posted to the police department’s social media, goes on to state, “While reviewing the incident, officers recognized the subject as a juvenile male they had prior contacts with involving illegal e-motorcycles. A search warrant was authored and granted for the subject’s residence. On May 19th, 2026, the search warrant was executed at the subject’s residence. The male juvenile was taken into custody without incident. He was booked at the NBPD Juvenile Jail on felony charges and released to his parents.”…
