SoCal Surfing Spot ‘The Wedge’ Is Getting Hit With A ‘Swell Of The Century’ With Waves Of 20+ Feet And Surfers Are Getting Demolished

Southern California offers some of the best surfing on planet earth and this week ‘The Wedge,’ one of the more famous spots around, has been going OFF was a ‘Swell of the Century’ rolled into Newport Beach. Footage from the Newport Beach surfing mecca has been hitting the Internet with pro surfers like Koa Rothman and others converging on the spot to rip waves.

The Wedge is famous for its massive and often unpredictable wave breaks that can smash into itself and create a converging wave that launches bodyboarders, boogie boarders, and surfers high into the air like rag dolls.

The Wedge has made many appearances here on BroBible throughout the years. Some of the more notable instances were back in 2020 when an early May swell came in and the waves were raging. Another time back in 2018 I was convinced that surfers in Newport Beach had a death wish after seeing how gnarly the waves were back then.

Flash forward to this week and a ‘Swell of the Century’ has come on. What exactly does that mean? Are these the largest waves of the past 100 years? Maybe, maybe not. What it really means is there have been waves of 20+ feet at The Wedge and even the most skilled surfers on planet earth are getting dominated by one of the most peculiar waves around…
