On May 22, authorities ordered evacuations in parts of Orange County after firefighters warned that a chemical tank at GKN Aerospace in Garden Grove could explode or release toxic chemicals. About 50,000 residents were affected. Families packed up and left — some on a holiday weekend with children, pets, and no plan for where to go.
