A beam from the World Trade Center made its way to Southern California this week as part of the Steel Across America campaign.
The Huntington Beach Police Department posted on social media that they had the “distinct honor” of escorting the Steel Across America convoy through the city by air and on the ground on Thursday.
“Steel Across America made its way to Huntington Beach yesterday, bringing with it a powerful reminder of the sacrifice, courage, and unity that emerged from September 11, 2001,” the department said. “The Huntington Beach Police Department had the distinct honor of escorting the Steel Across America convoy into our city — by air with HB-1 and on the ground with our Motor Unit — helping ensure the safe arrival of an authentic World Trade Center steel beam as it continues its nationwide journey.”
The Steel Across America campaign, part of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, transports an actual steel beam from the World Trade Center to communities across the U.S. from May through September 2026…
