A pursuit that stretched from the High Desert to eastern Los Angeles County ended in a fatal crash overnight, officials said.
Not much information was available right away, including what prompted the chase. A California Highway Patrol spokesperson told KTLA that the pursuit began in Victorville shortly after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Preliminary reports indicate that CHP units began pursuing the car because it was driving without headlights. Video later obtained by KTLA shows part of the pursuit where the driver was fleeing on a freeway at high speeds with no headlights.
The suspect was fleeing at high speeds — at times going faster than 120 miles per hour — and traveled via freeways and surface streets to Pomona, where a crash occurred on Towne Avenue between East Bonita Avenue and Indigo Place.
