As Jackie the beloved Big Bear bald eagle remains critically ill, new details are emerging about the young female spotted spending time with her longtime mate, Shadow.
The Orange County Water District says it has identified the eagle as KD1, a female born more than 100 miles away in the Prado Basin in 2022.
“You may know her as the young eagle who’s been seen cozying up to Shadow in Big Bear,” the agency wrote in a social media post. “But to us, she’s known as KD1.”
