California death row inmate convicted of killing O.C. store manager dies in prison

A man sentenced to death for fatally shooting an Orange County store manager during a botched robbery nearly 30 years ago has died in prison, state corrections officials announced Friday.

Daniel C. Frederickson, 63, died Wednesday while incarcerated at the California Institution for Men in Chino, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He was pronounced dead by a physician at the prison at about 12:25 p.m.

The San Bernardino County Coroner will determine his official cause of death, CDCR said.
