Orange County Proposes 200,000-Square-Foot Fleet Facility Next to Kennedy Elementary in Santa Ana

A 200,000-square-foot vehicle maintenance campus proposed for a vacant parcel in Santa Ana would sit directly next to John F. Kennedy Elementary School—and construction could run from 2027 into 2029.

Orange County Public Works wants to build the new fleet services facility at 1400 S. Grand Avenue, at the corner of East McFadden Avenue, on a 4.59-acre site it already owns. The project would consolidate operations currently split between two other Santa Ana locations: 445 Civic Center West and 1102 East Fruit Street.

According to the county’s project filing, construction is expected to begin in 2027 and last approximately 18 months, wrapping up around 2029. Neighbors along S. Grand Avenue and E. McFadden Avenue should expect construction-related traffic and disruption throughout that period.
