A family disturbance in Irvine triggered a SWAT response Friday morning as police engaged in an hours-long standoff with a 32-year-old man who was eventually flushed out of a two-story home with tear gas.
The Irvine Police Department received a 911 call shortly before 8 a.m. from someone being threatened inside a home near Villanova and Calavera, according to department spokesperson Kyle Oldoerp. Two family members were able to exit the home safely, but the man refused to surrender himself.
