Highly venomous snake on the loose in Santa Ana, police warns

A highly venomous snake has been spotted in Santa Ana, prompting police to warn the public that the reptile is on the loose.

The Santa Ana Police Department on Monday issued an alert to the public warning them about a loose Gaboon Viper. The snake, which is an extremely venomous viper native to sub-Saharan Africa, was last seen in a tree near the intersection of Edinger Avenue and Main Street. It’s estimated to be about 4 to 5 feet long.

Santa Ana residents and visitors are asked to be aware of their surroundings. Anyone who sees the viper is told to refrain from trying to approach or handle it. Anyone who is bitten by the snake should seek medical care immediately…
