In the peak of Southern California’s heatwave, the sun’s glaring beams descended onto Ten Mile Brewing’s third annual Cambodian Food Festival, where a cowboy could be found selling barbeque and a princess selling donuts.
On Saturday, Oct. 3, a variety of vendors sold art pieces and food starting at noon, almost fully selling out by the evening.
Event host Battambong BBQ chef Chad Phuong, nicknamed the “Cambodian Cowboy” is known for his Cambodian-Texan fusion barbeque.
“It’s a community thing,” Phuong said, his cowboy hat shielding his eyes from the sun. “I started wearing a hat and jeans and boots [while grilling] and that’s when they started calling me the ‘Cambodian Cowboy.’”…
