O.C. man accused of stealing public works truck in San Bernardino County

A 37-year-old Orange County man was taken into custody after allegedly stealing a City of Adelanto Public Works truck earlier this week in San Bernardino County.

Investigators with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said that on April 21, Jordan Honeycutt, a Fullerton resident, approached a city worker just after 10 a.m. in the 10000 block of Rancho Road under the guise of asking a question.

“The suspect then entered a City of Adelanto Public Works vehicle, with the engine running, and fled the scene,” officials said in a news release. “As the suspect fled, the victim was nearly struck by the vehicle.”

The Sheriff’s Department aviation unit assisted deputies in locating the stolen pickup less than five miles away, near the intersection of Highway 395 and Mojave Drive.
