LAKE FOREST, CA – On Friday, April 24, 2026, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department reported a deputy-involved shooting following a sequence of events that began in Rancho Mission Viejo and concluded in Lake Forest. The incident originated at approximately 2:30 a.m. when deputies were dispatched to a residence near Antonio Parkway and Cow Camp Road. A caller informed authorities that his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, a male in his 20s, was present at the location and causing a disturbance.
According to the reporting party, the suspect reached for his waistband when the door was opened. The informant closed the door, and the suspect left the premises prior to the arrival of law enforcement. Subsequent review of home security footage by the informant indicated that the suspect was in possession of a handgun. No injuries were reported by the occupants of the residence during this initial encounter.
At approximately 3:45 a.m., deputies identified the suspect’s vehicle at Rimgate Park in Lake Forest. Law enforcement officials stated that the individual drove away when deputies attempted to make contact.
