ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Firefighters are expected to remain at the Mat-Su Central Landfill into Tuesday morning after a fire broke out Monday evening in a construction debris area, according to the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.
The borough said the fire was reported at about 5:28 p.m. in the landfill’s construction and demolition pit. Borough officials said the fire began in an area that had been compacted earlier in the day.
