‘We will miss him forever’: Family remembers 25-year-old who lost life in Turnagain Arm

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A family member of Josh Novakovich, a 25-year-old who died after going out on the water at Turnagain Arm, is remembering him on Facebook through the passions and person they say he was.

In a Facebook post, Novakovich’s uncle, Mike, wrote that Novakovich “loved life, his family, and everything about with Alaska.” Mike said Novakovich was paddle boarding on Friday when he ‘was swept out to the middle of Turnagain Arm’.

Surfer Tom Cozad, who said he was in the water the same day, described “extreme” conditions and said nearby people did what they could as they watched Novakovich struggle…
