Volunteers got their hands dirty planting native plants at Johnny Ellis Rainbow Bridge Park in Anchorage as part of an ongoing effort to improve the space and bring more of Alaska’s natural landscape into the city.
The park honors longtime Alaskan Johnny Ellis, who served nearly 30 years in the state Legislature. Anchorage Parks and Recreation says the native meadow project is designed to make the park feel more connected to the state’s natural environment.
