Lima Township Residents Worry about Consumers Energy’s Potential Plans

Lima Township held a special meeting on June 1 with one of the agenda items being a discussion of future plans of Consumers Energy with a representative from Consumers. The specific discussion was whether or not the Jackson-based energy company will build a natural gas-burning 1.4-gigawatt plant on land in the township.

The meeting in township hall ended up being a full house with residents asking questions and raising their concerns as two representatives from Consumers emphasized the option in Lima is only that and is too early in the process as the energy company explores its plans for future needs.
