U-M regent Acker apologizes after investigation shows ‘disturbing messages’ were real

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — An investigation launched by the University of Michigan confirmed that “disturbing messages” allegedly made by university regent Jordan Acker were legitimate.

An April report from The Guardian showed Slack messages attributed to Acker that included several lewd comments about a female U-M student reportedly made in 2020 and 2021.

Acker told The Detroit News that the allegations were “ridiculous” and “fake” and that he has never used Slack. After the internal investigation found the comments to be real, Acker issued an apology.
