TECUMSEH — The Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education held a public hearing for their 2026 through 2027 school year budget, during which a deficit of about $48,700 was revealed.
Interim Director of Business Services Steve Lenar (lih-NAR) told board members at their regular meeting on Monday that the deficit is a result of general fund expenditures exceeding revenues for the first time in at least two years.
Despite this, Lenar says that the school’s general fund balance will sit at an estimated $3,027,180, about on par with last year, even as Tecumseh Public Schools anticipates a decrease in the student population of about 80 students…
