State health officials offer parasite mitigation advice

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — State health officials announced Saturday that the number of confirmed and probable cases of a parasitic infection have jumped from 170 cases June 30 to 572 cases on July 4.

Michigan Department of Health and Human Services officials reported that the dramatic increase of Cyclosporiasis is centered mostly in southeast Michigan.

“Cases remain the highest in Monroe, Lenawee, Washtenaw, Wayne, Shiawassee, Jackson, Oakland and Livingston counties,” officials said in a Saturday night news release.
