GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Ann Arbor is thousands of miles — and thousands of years — away from Ancient Egypt, but one of the worlds’ largest collections of historic papyrus resides at the University of Michigan.
Earlier this month, researchers from across the world made the trek to Ann Arbor to check out the collection and to learn more about proper preservation techniques. Some of the highlights include a 2,200-year-old portion of “The Iliad,” some of the “lost works” of Greek philosopher Epicurus and a portion of the oldest-known copy of the Epistles of St. Paul.
‘Tumor Destroyer’ shows promising results at Corewell Health
The collection, the largest in North America, holds more than 7,000 ancient manuscripts and approximately 17,000 individual fragments from between 1,000 B.C. and 1,000 A.D.
