ANN ARBOR, MI — A historic former brewery building in Ann Arbor’s Old West Side Historic District is still missing a sizable part of its roof over four months after an April tornado tore it off.
A board still hangs off the top along Fourth Street and the sidewalk below remains closed.
Passersby, who can see the blue sky through the fourth-floor windows, may wonder if the building is filling up with water, but the owner says a special mitigation system is helping prevent damage.
“There is currently a system in place to protect the building from the elements,” said Edward Dunne, executive editor for Mathematical Reviews. “It was designed by a consulting engineer and is quite remarkable.”…
